Ashcroft recuses himself, naming Patrick Fitzgerald, US Attorney from
Chicago, to head the investigation. Fitzgerald has a solid reputation
as a prosecutor, but he is, after all, Ashcroft's employee. This
violates the Justice Department's own guidelines stating that
"... a special prosecutor shall be selected from outside of the US
Government.". Where are the Democrats? You didn't expect a real
